After you get to Happily Ever After, how do you keep from mucking it up?
Carlin "Carlos" Farley Fantazma's world had finally settled into her best imitation of normal. Saddled with brain damage, aphasia, and a prosthetic left foot, she controls the reins of a successful horse drawn carriage company; that is, with the assistance of her friends and employees. Married to the man she has loved all of her life, their joy at expecting a child is only slightly offset by her fear that she'll leave her baby someplace and forget where she put it.
Bill Fantazma is torn between loving his wife so much he finds it hard to breathe, and wanting to strangle her for her feisty independence and occasional outrageous behavior. He's trying to juggle his own career needs while surreptitiously micro-managing his wife. So he sees no problem with the little white lie he tells to avoid the possibility of bailing her out of jail for attempted murder. But they all discover that deception can be insidious, and wishing he'd paid attention to a creeping shadow of doubt could have saved the life of a much loved employee.
Loyalties are tested, relationships are fractured, and accusations are hurled, but when the real enemy's agenda threatens everything, the women of the tribe coalesce and make sure that retribution is swift, painful, and long lasting. And in the end, someone will discover that to be successful in life, you have to be willing to improvise.
Some people do the right thing. Some people do the wrong thing. And some people do things because a little birdie tells them to...
"You'll meet a new kind of heroine in this funny, offbeat romance. I loved it and found the characters different and engaging. Carlos Farley is one of a kind. You may love her or hate her but you won't forget her." ~ review of The Carriage Trade

Carlin "Carlos" Farley's life is an open book. Unfortunately, she can't
remember most of it. She's losing her barn manager, Bill, the guy who's been
running her horse drawn carriage business while she's been in extended care
recovering from an accident. Bill has always been there for her, in fact they've
grown up together, but now he wants to pursue the career he put on hold and
Carlin's resigned to the idea that he's leaving her.
Bill Fantazma is the kind of guy who always tries to do the right thing. But
sometimes doing the right thing is not the right thing to do. He's been in
charge of Carlin's care and the business he helped acquire for her, and considers
the accident and her subsequent brain damage as an opportunity for a
do-over, since his previous attempts to attract her affection were less than honorable.
Richard Cooper appears to be the answer to their business
problems.Knowledgeable about horses, willing to step in and take over the
barn manager position, he's a perfect fit for the job. Helpful and solicitous to
Carlin, he's not put off by her sometimes bizarre, erratic and quirky behavior.
Will he replace Bill in all aspects of her life?
It's a romance that she can't remember, and he can never forget. The Carriage Trade.

The stories I write combine fun and sexy characters with horses. Not like a Centaur, more like the blossoming relationship between a jaded carriage driver and the man of her dreams or a riding instructor and the guy she suspects is the reincarnation of her cherished, but deceased, dog.
Offbeat, quirky, and never run of the mill. I write realistic characters with nary a heaving bosom in sight. So if you're looking for formulary, look elsewhere. There's plenty of it out there.
